Distinguish between high-voltage and low-voltage cable applications

Usually, high-voltage lines refer to 3-10 kV lines; low-voltage lines refer to 220/380 volt lines. As a power engineer, you can clearly identify high and low voltage lines.

From the appearance: There are other ways to identify high and low voltages as follows:

1: When high-voltage and low-voltage lines are erected separately, the distance between the poles of high-voltage lines is larger and the poles are higher than those of low-voltage lines.

2: When high-voltage and low-voltage lines are erected on the same pole, the high-voltage line is on the top and the low-voltage line is on the bottom; the cross-arm of the high-voltage line is longer than that of the lower voltage line, and the distance between the lines is larger than that of the lower voltage line.

Of course, to distinguish the characteristics of high-voltage and low-voltage wiring harness cables in the car, generally according to standard requirements, high-voltage cables must be visually distinguished from ordinary automotive cables, and the designated surface must be bright orange.

There are two types of wires in automobile electrical system: low-voltage wires and high-voltage wires. Low-voltage wires are divided into ordinary wires, shielded wires, starting cables and battery ground cables; high-voltage wires are divided into copper core wires and damping wires.

Among them, the high-voltage wires in the car can be divided into shielded wires and unshielded wires. Shielded wire is also called coaxial radio frequency cable. It has a metal textile network tube in the outer insulation layer or many strands of wires installed in a layer of braided metal mesh, and then a sheath is placed outside the network tube, which is called a shielding network.

Its function is to isolate the wire from the external magnetic field and prevent the wire from being interfered by the external magnetic field. It is especially effective in preventing high-voltage ignition interference in gasoline engines. Shielded wire is often used for low-voltage weak signal lines.

Among them, how to distinguish between high-voltage lines and low-voltage lines:

First we can look at the structure. High-voltage cables have many layers. After peeling off the outermost layer, there are armor, shielding layer, insulation layer, conductor, etc. inside. The outermost layer of low-voltage cables is generally peeled off, and the insulation layer or wires are inside. Secondly, the insulation layer of high-voltage cables is relatively thick, while the insulation layer of low-voltage cables is relatively thin. The insulation layer of low-voltage cables is generally within 3 mm, and the insulation layer of high-voltage cables is generally above 5 mm. Again, you can look at the nameplate on the outermost layer of the cable. The relevant parameters of the cable are generally printed on the outermost layer of the cable, including cable model, cross-sectional area, rated voltage, length and other parameters.
